Sound Sewn

Acousmatic Quilting of Urban Assemblages

“Sound Sewn” is an audio quilt, made of a collection of naturally dyed cotton squares organized in layers of sonic strata (water, earth, sky); three speakers are placed within the quilt, audible behind the three cyanotype printed blocks. Each of the speakers plays three looped 10-minute soundscapes of underwater acoustics, urban intersections, and green spaces within my frequented areas of the city. These soundscapes are acousmatic, occurring without the listener perceiving its source.

This project was developed as a final output during a 2025/2026 Graduate Fellowship with the School of Cities, University of Toronto.

More details and images are forthcoming!
